Five bands. One tiny Caribbean island. And one very unexpected detour to Marin.
In an unlikely westward migration, a crew of bands from the tropical island of St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands, is trading white-sand beaches and rum-soaked Caribbean nights for the coastal redwoods of Marin. How did they end up here? Long story short, they were among the acts booked for San Francisco’s ill-fated Freak Nest festival. But the show must go on — and St. John knows how to rock.
Head to Paper Mill Creek Saloon on Sunday, August 23 for an afternoon of psychedelic grooves, island-inspired funk, rock and pop straight from the Virgin Islands. Headliner The Orange Peels has deep Bay Area roots and was a fixture on the San Francisco music scene before its founders decamped to St. John for five years. Now they’re back — and they’ve brought some talented island friends along for the ride. PuZL, Mother Goat and Housewives of St. John round out the lineup, with plenty of new music on the way.
Come for the Caribbean vibes, stay for the rock & roll — no passport required.
