Murder, mystery, femme fatales and plenty of shady characters are taking over The Lark Theater for its Classic Film Noir series, September 2–7.

The lineup brings some seriously iconic movies back to the big screen, including Key Largo with Humphrey Bogart & Lauren Bacall, Orson Welles’ Touch of Evil and The Lady from Shanghai, The Asphalt Jungle with Marilyn Monroe, In a Lonely Place, The Night of the Hunter, and Fritz Lang’s groundbreaking thriller M. There are also some more modern twists on the genre, including Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Angel Heart, Dark City and Sin City.

But the coolest local connection comes on Wednesday, September 2, when the series kicks off with an opening-night reception and a screening of the 1949 noir classic Impact — which was filmed right here in Larkspur and around Marin County.

Whether you’re a Bogart buff, a Hitchcock-era movie lover or just looking for an excuse to spend a few hours in a dark theater with popcorn, this is a fun chance to catch some legendary films on the big screen.
