In 2018, Kaity Galvez and her husband took over LJ’s Deli in Terra Linda that had been home to Sub Hut since 1969. The Marin natives enjoyed hearing stories from their customers about their favorite sandwiches throughout the years—so much so, when the owner of Perry’s Delicatessen, Bob Schilling approached them to see if they were interested in purchasing his venerable downtown San Rafael institution, they said yes.
The original family-owned deli has been operated by generations of Schilling’s over the years and Galvez attended San Rafael High School with some of them. So, for her, taking over this eatery comes with a responsibility to keep a piece of Marin history alive.
The space has received a complete makeover. Handsome blue grey walls, gleaming white tiles and scrubbed brown floors make it all but unrecognizable—except for the Perry’s Deli sign with its iconic 1970’s lettering. There is ample indoor seating in the back of the deli and an inviting outdoor patio with blue metal chairs and a cheery faux floral wall adorn the space.
A build your own sandwich menu is still an option, but the refreshed menu now features several updated items including hot and cold specialty sandwich offerings. Patrons can also go "Halvsies" and enjoy any half sandwich and a small salad.

If you’re thirsty, Perry’s Deli offers a variety of soda, beer, and Tinto de Verano (Sangria's flirtier sister!) - a refreshing blend of fruity red wine and lemon-lime soda over ice.
The deli’s popular S’mores Iced Coffee or Strawberry Basil Soda are also perfectly sweet choices for sipping al fresco on a sunny summer day.
Perry’s Deli also caters! Whether it be an office lunch, a baby shower or a little league party, Perry’s can accommodate groups from 10 - 300 people. All catering orders include napkins, plates and utensils. All catering items come labeled, and they’re happy to personalize your labels with names and/or logos as well.
