The battle may be over, but the music is just getting started!
On Thursday, the winner and runner-up of this year’s Battle of the Bands Competition take the Sweetwater stage for a high-energy night of live music.
Kicking things off are The Meaty Ogres, serving up a heavy dose of soul, funk and rock. With raw grooves, soaring guitars and gritty vocals, the band knows how to turn a show into a full-on party built for dancing, singing along and getting lost in the music.
Then it’s Gas Money, a local band formed by four teenagers who are proving that rock & roll is alive and well. They’ve quickly built a following with their infectious energy and eclectic sound, covering everything from Stevie Wonder to Metallica and plenty in between.
Come see two of Marin’s rising local bands show off the sounds that took them to the top of this year’s competition.

Fresh off a busy summer of performances across the Bay Area and tour stops in Littleton, Colorado, and Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Wreckless Strangers return to the Paper Mill Creek Saloon this Friday.
With their latest alblum Dirty Souls, Wreckless Strangers return to their rock-and-roll roots, delivering their rawest and most visceral studio effort to date. The six-song collection channels the arena rock spirit of the '70s and '80s that shaped the band's earliest influences while bringing a fresh, modern edge to the sound. This Friday and Saturday evening San Anselmo Avenue is transforming into a vibrant pedestrian promenade where local shops stay buzzing, restaurants spill onto the sidewalks, and live music fills the air. Sound Summit returns to Mount Tam's historic Mountain Theater this Saturday for an unforgettable day of live music, breathtaking views, and community spirit. The Rotary Club of Ignacio’s BBQ, Brews & Comedy Night returns to Novato this Saturday,, bringing together delicious food, cold drinks, live comedy, and plenty of fun — all while raising money for a good cause.
The evening kicks off at 5:30pm at the Jonas Center at College of Marin’s Indian Valley Campus, with BBQ and brews followed by a comedy show featuring Clara Bijl, Samson Koletkar, and Shawn Felipe, with Laine Hendricks keeping the evening rolling as emcee.

Marin Theatre Company (MTC) presents The White Chip, a sobering comedy of errors (August 27 - September 20).
Success seems to come easily to Steven McAlister. Charismatic and constantly in motion, he’s built a life that looks enviable from the outside — complete with a dream job at a prestigious theatre. But from his very first drink at 12, it’s clear he has been lying to himself for years. Equal parts hilarious and heartbreaking, this “recovery comedy” unfolds from Steven’s own disarmingly candid and charmingly funny perspective. Named for the tokens given in Alcoholics Anonymous to mark the beginning of sobriety, The White Chip follows Steven as he barrels through the highs, lows, and spectacular missteps of addiction, telling a story about the courage to start over, one day at a time. Marin Artistic Director Lance Gardner helms this production.
