This Bon Air Center fixture traces its roots to San Francisco’s North Beach in 1914, when a group of Italian bakers teamed up and named their shop after one founder’s daughter, Victoria. More than a century later, the Greenbrae bakery still works from those hand-gathered recipes, and the vintage décor and glass cases full of cookies, pastries and cakes make every visit feel like a trip back in time.
The star of the show is the Princess Cake – vanilla sponge brushed with triple sec and layered with raspberry jam, vanilla custard and whipped cream under a dome of green marzipan. Locals also swear by the crunchy, ricotta-filled cannoli, the espresso-soaked tiramisu and braided challah, plus custom birthday and wedding cakes built to order (gluten-free on request). Grab an espresso and a pastry at the counter, and call ahead for large or Princess cakes.
