Recommendation  #1
Mill Valley Fall Arts Festival

The Mill Valley Fall Arts Festival (MVFAF) is participating in February’s First Tuesday Artwalk with the presentation of We Are Here, a community art project led by artist Robert Louthan.

The completed artwork will be on display at the Mill Valley Community Center beginning Tuesday, February 3rd, as part of the First Tuesday Artwalk festivities. MVFAF will host a public reception with snacks and beverages from 5:30pm – 7:30pm, and the mural will remain on view until April 26th.

We Are Here was created during the 2025 Mill Valley Fall Arts Festival as a hands-on community art experience. Anyone who could hold a paintbrush was invited to help bring Samantha Ferro’s 2025 MVFAF poster art to life. The large-scale mural featured a ready-to-paint line drawing of Ferro’s Map of Mill Valley, allowing festival visitors of all ages and to make connections and contribute their own color and creativity.

The exhibit includes Louthan’s photos of the mural-making process.

Recommendation #4

This Valentine’s Day, skip the roses and bring your appetite. The Golden State Salmon Association is serving up an unforgettable all-you-can-eat Dungeness crab feast—and it’s all for a great cause.

On Saturday, February 14, from 12–3pm, the GSSA crew will cook, clean, and crack nearly 800 pounds of fresh local crab at the Marin Rod & Gun Club in San Rafael. The crab is prepared on site the morning of the event—less than 24 hours out of the water—so it doesn’t get fresher than this.

Your ticket includes:

  • Endless locally caught Dungeness crab 🦀
  • Garlic noodles, cheesy sourdough & seasonal green salad
  • Local beer, wine & non-alcoholic beverages
  • A lively raffle with great prizes
  • Good vibes with fishermen, conservationists, and fellow crab lovers

Best of all, every crack of the shell supports GSSA’s mission to restore healthy salmon runs and protect California’s rivers.
